As part of measures aimed at deepening the activities of the police campaign against cultism and other vices in various communities across Bayelsa State in line with the realization of the aims and objectives in crime prevention using community based crime prevention approach and in line with community oriented policing tenets.
The National coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu has appointed Goodman Aruguone as the state chairman of the POCACOV volunteer club (PVC) Bayelsa state and shall be reporting and working with SP Asinim Butwat as the state coordinator of POCACOV Bayelsa state and his team from police public relations department Bayelsa state.
According to the coordinator, others to work with Good man are chief ATO ALABO (ATobros) in charge community leaders and community mobilization, Barrister Amaechi Osaraibe as vice chairman while professor Philips Okolo the director for peace and conflict resolution, Niger Delta University for peace and conflict (NDU) Yenegoa is now POCACOV Ambassador/Stakeholder and to offer advisory on peace, conflict resolutions to deepen the community peace within Bayelsa state and it’s environs.
POCACOV is a community driven program and public relations tool of the Nigeria police force working with different stakeholders to resolve issues around cultism substance and drug abuse, sexual and gender based violence, violent behaviours and other vices, galvanizing stakeholders support and using community oriented policing approach like advocacy, awareness creation and sensitizations, reorientation and mentoring.
