Plentywaka, a mobility platform founded in 2019 has been rebranded to “Treepz” as part of it’s strategy to expand inline with it’s vision to build the largest shared mobility platform in West Africa.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Treepz Inc., Mr Onyeka Akumah said this on Friday in a press statement signed by the organisation’s Marketing Manager, Media & Communications, Uzo Akumah.

Akumah said that Treepz was West Africa’s largest shared mobility platform in progress that offered commuters convenience, safety, and comfort through daily rides and road travel ticketing services.

“With branches in Nigeria and Ghana, Treepz is changing the way hundreds of thousands of commuters get around with close to half a million rides completed on our app,” he said.

The CEO said that the name change from Plentywaka to Treepz would be more effective and present an opportunity to align the company name with it’s Pan-African expansion plan.

“Plentywaka is a combination of English and Nigerian that means “plenty movement,” with big plans to ameliorate the public transport infrastructure in Africa and beyond.

“However, “WAKA” can mean different things across Africa, which may be completely different from travel or movement, so, we decided to rebrand from ‘Plentywaka’ to ‘Treepz’ which is pronounced as ‘Trips’.

“The new name boldly states our mission to provide safe, convenient and comfortable trips across Africa with plans for our expansion to 6 countries in 2 years on the continent,” Akumah said.

He said that Treepz core service offerings would remain the same but with new names; Daily Treepz, Travel Treepz, and Corporate Treepz and a new company logo.

“After recently securing $1.2M in seed funding and acquiring Stabus, one of Ghana’s leading mobility startups, the company is now solely focused on expanding across Africa.

“It’s existing mission statement and “black and yellow” brand colours will also be retained for marketing and branding purposes.

“The name Treepz embodies everything that happens on the road; travelling across cities, within cities and it gives a cool vibe to the experience,” the CEO said.

Akumah said that already existing users would not have to take any action as the new app will automatically force an update to the new Treepz experience in Africa.

He said that the mobile app was available for download via the Google Playstore and the IOS App and urged new and existing users to visit www.treepz.com to learn more about the organisation.
