Former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, recently visited the family of former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, to offer his condolences following the death of Makarfi’s son, Faisal Makarfi. Accompanied by his running mate, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi expressed deep sympathy for the Makarfi family during this difficult time.
During his visit, Obi prayed for the repose of Faisal’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his sins and grant him Aljanna Firdausi. He also extended prayers for strength and comfort for the Makarfi family as they cope with their tragic loss.
“May God continue to protect and bless the Makarfi family always,” Obi remarked, reflecting on the family’s grief.
Following the condolence visit, Obi revisited an Almajiri school in Kaduna that he had been supporting. Earlier in the year, he had contributed to the improvement of the school’s infrastructure, which had been in poor condition. During his initial visit, Obi noted that the school lacked basic amenities such as a functional toilet system and a reliable water supply.
Upon returning to the school, Obi expressed satisfaction with the progress made, revealing that his earlier donation had led to significant improvements, including the installation of a new toilet system and two functional boreholes. Encouraged by the positive changes, he announced an additional donation of N5 million to the school.
“We remain committed to building a Nigeria that gives our children the right training and empowerment to access brighter opportunities in life,” Obi said, reaffirming his dedication to improving education for children, particularly in underserved communities. He emphasized that education is the “currency for future opportunities in life” and assured the school of his continued support.
Obi’s visit and ongoing contributions to the almajiri school reflect his vision for a “New Nigeria,” one that prioritizes education and provides children with the tools they need for a brighter future.
