In a heartfelt message, Peter Obi has extended his support to Alhaji Aliko Dangote, addressing the business magnate’s recent struggles with government agencies and other challenges. Obi’s comments come after Dangote expressed disappointment over a wealthy friend’s criticism and mockery of his decision to invest in Nigeria.
Peter Obi praised Dangote’s commitment to Nigeria’s growth and development, saying, “My Dear Elder Brother, Alhaji Dangote, I want you to know that your friend is wrong. You did the right thing by investing in the productivity, growth, development, and progress of our beloved nation, through your many business ventures, irrespective of the challenges and obstacles that now stand in your way.”
He highlighted the broader purpose of serving humanity despite the difficulties that come with it, adding, “We are all created to serve humanity. This service may come with its attendant challenges. But God knows that you are strong enough to overcome the challenges and contribute to building a better humanity.”
Drawing from his own experiences, Obi shared how his transition from the private sector to public service resulted in significant personal and financial losses. “I have lost more in my own life ever since I joined public service, which I would not have lost if I remained in the private sector,” he said. He recounted bringing his savings from abroad to Nigeria and starting businesses that were either mismanaged or taken over. Despite facing continuous harassment from the government and other systemic challenges, Obi remains steadfast in his mission to bring positive change.
Obi encouraged Dangote to remain resilient, not for material gains, but for the nation’s development and humanity’s betterment. “I encourage you to remain resilient in the face of the present challenges, not for material gains, but for the development and progress of the nation and a better humanity,” he stated.
Concluding his message with a note of optimism, Obi assured that brighter days lie ahead. “It may have been a long night, but the glorious dawn of our nation shall come eventually, and we will enjoy the New Nigeria we have all laboured for because It is POssible, if we persevere!”
