Former presidential candidate Peter Obi was among the enthusiastic supporters who gathered at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo to cheer for the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
Obi, who traveled to the Akwa Ibom State capital for the game, praised the team for their resilience and dedication despite not securing a victory. He emphasized the unifying power of football, describing it as a force that continues to bring Nigerians together, even in times of national challenges.
“Our national football team, the Super Eagles, is always a delight to watch,” he stated. “While we may not have clinched the victory on the field of play, our dear players have, again, won our hearts with their obvious display of sportsmanship.”
