Former governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his commitment to healthcare and education by donating ₦10 million each to the Holy Rosary School of Nursing and Midwifery in Mbaise, Imo State, and Our Lady of Lourdes College of Nursing Sciences in Ihiala, Anambra State.
During his visit to the proposed Holy Rosary School of Nursing and Midwifery, which is set to commence operations in September 2025, Obi emphasized the need for strategic investment in human capital development. He reiterated that healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation should be Nigeria’s top development priorities.
“At the foundation of a good healthcare system are well-trained professionals,” Obi said. “In support of this institution, I donated ₦10 million and assured them of my continued commitment to their growth.”
Following his stop in Imo, Obi proceeded to Our Lady of Lourdes College of Nursing Sciences in Ihiala, Anambra State, where he made a similar donation to support the institution’s efforts in training competent healthcare professionals.
He stressed the importance of investing in critical sectors that enhance the well-being and education of Nigerians, stating that such efforts are essential for the nation’s sustainable progress.
Obi, known for his philanthropic contributions to education and healthcare, reaffirmed his belief in a better Nigeria, concluding his statement with his signature phrase, “A new Nigeria is POssible!”
