Peter Obi Condemns Kidnapping of Anambra Lawmaker, Calls For Urgent Action on Insecurity

The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has condemned the recent abduction of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member representing Onitsha North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. Obi described the incident as a worrying reminder of the growing insecurity plaguing Nigeria.

According to reports, Hon. Azuka was kidnapped upon his arrival in Onitsha to celebrate the Christmas season with his family. The incident occurred in the state’s bustling commercial hub, underscoring the escalating boldness of criminal elements.

Reacting to the development, Obi warned of the dire consequences of failing to address the nation’s security challenges. “If left unchecked, the monster of insecurity will consume all of us,” he said. He called for intensified efforts to curb the activities of what he termed “merchants of terror,” stressing that no one would be spared if their actions continue unchecked.

Obi expressed appreciation for the sacrifices of security personnel working to protect lives and property across Nigeria. However, he urged for renewed commitment and collaborative efforts to tackle the insecurity crisis.

The former governor also appealed to security agencies to expedite efforts to rescue Hon. Azuka safely and reunite him with his family. He further emphasized the need to bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice to deter future occurrences.

The incident has heightened concerns over security in Anambra State and the nation at large, with calls for immediate and effective solutions to restore public confidence and ensure the safety of citizens.
