The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Mr. Everestus Obiyo JP has called on citizens to support the Corps in its effort towards promoting peace in the State.
Commandant Obiyo, who was represented by Deputy Commandant Francis Obinna Nnadi, Head of the PGC Department, made the call in Awka today Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at a one-day sensitization and evaluation tour of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit, (PCR) National Headquarters Abuja to the State Command.
He said that the Corps has been at the forefront of promoting peaceful coexistence but still needs the support of all stakeholders to develop ways and agree to work towards lasting peace in the state and the county at large.
“We have a country to protect and it is important that all of us practice peace not only for our sake but for the future generation,” concluded Obiyo.
Mr. Obiyo lauded the initiative of the Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni for the session aimed at returning peace in the country and called on people to explore the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) method or rather report any incidence of breach of peace to the nearest security outfit.
In her remarks, Assistant Commandant Chinasa Geraldine Ivom of the PCR unit National Headquarters Abuja said that peace sensitization became necessary to enhance the efficiency and performance of personnel in peace building.
She commended the CG for putting up measures through the PCR unit in the peaceful mediation of warring parties with acceptable solutions while affirming that peace will prevail in the country very soon.
