Paseiro, The Magus Making The Super Eagles Soar

The Super Eagles of Nigeria struck Nigerians with surprises a few days ago in an Africa cup of nation qualifier, where they walloped the national team of Sao Tome and Principe a whopping 10-0.

The game which saw Nigeria-born Napoli star striker, Victor Osimhen registering his name four times on the scores sheet, was the second competitive outing of the current Super Eagles manager, Jose Santo Paseiro as the substantive coach of the senior national team.

The resounding victory recorded with the trumping of Sao Tome and Principe wasn’t just an ordinary feat, but a memorable show for the eagles in which they were able to bring back old memories.

With the dramatic win, it is a great start for the new manager, Jose Paseiro as head coach of the national team of the world’s largest black population.

Jose Paseiro has kickstarted his coaching career with the eagles on a very bright note with a groundbreaking record. The onslaught has seen him surpass the 10-1 record of the national team in 1959 when they host the then national team of Dahomey now the republic of Benin, in Lagos, in a john
Nkrumah cup.

The latest result is a shift away from the persistent fumbling and wambling that has characterized the super Eagle’s outings for some time now.

Although it might be too early to pass any verdict, this result can prove that Paseiro possesses the Midas touch that can turn around the national team’s fortune for good in the round leather game.

After the match which was played in the city of Agadir in Morocco, the sports minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, reiterated the fact that rebirth has begun in earnest with the national team.

However, we can’t hastily rate the team-high based on this recent improvement. Yet, it is certain that this new coach who shares the same name with Jose Mourinho, the former Chelsea and Manchester United FC manager, is relatively unknown in the football coaching world, but might carve a niche for himself from his time with our national team.

On the side of the players, there was a different vigor and vibrancy which suggests that the new coach has an understanding of the boys and can put them to their best form.

So, it is not out of place to say that, a new era has come for the Super Eagles and there is a new sensation that will champion it. It is no other person than the new gaffer, the man currently at the helm of affairs at the camp of the Super Eagles. His name is Jose ‘Magician’ Paseiro. He possesses the magic wand to shoot the super Eagles into the sky.
