It is with this understanding that the Ozuah Family Foundation had made a decisive effort to sponsor the education of every child from Nteje, in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, from primary to tertiary level.
The Ozuah Family is a household name in their ancestral home of Nteje Aborgu. The family is a concrete example of the famous saying, “Good name is better than riches”. Fortunately for the Ozuah’s, they have got the good name and posses the riches. They have over the years, continued to use their privilege to empower the society, especially their home community.
It is a known legacy and historical fact that one of the Ozuah’s, Engineer Philip Ozuah pioneered the electrification of Nteje community and Oyi Local Government extensively during his time in the now defunct NEPA. He equally used his influence to secure employment opportunities in NEPA for countless others in the Omambala region, among other remarkable feats.
Today, his son, Dr Philip Orayeli Ozuah, a soft-spoken, refined and brilliant medical doctor in the United States of America, has followed the bold and powerful footsteps of his father to make education affordable and accessible for all in his hometown, Nteje. The desire for a competent and enlightened society gave birth to the Ozuah Family Foundation.
The Ozuah Family Foundation had since its inception couple of years back, sponsored the education of thousands of pupils and students from Nteje town.
Initially, the scholarship covered tuition fee and other fees of only pupils, secondary and tertiary students from Akamanato, the village of the Ozuah’s. Today, the act of benevolence had been extended to the entire pupils and students in the Nteje Aborgu communities.
The Foundation was founded by Dr Philip Ozuah. Dr. Philip Ozuah is a pediatrician who is based in New York. He has more than 20 years experience of practice in this field. He is also the President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine which is one of the largest healthcare organizations in the United States.
Members of the Board include: The magnificent and able President, Iyom (Mrs) Chinelo G. Udu. The delectable and capable Vice-President, Mrs Ifunanya J. Umoren, among other energetic and credible members.
The Ozuah Family Foundation restored hopes to indigent pupils and students from Nteje, who have lost hopes of a quality education. The Foundation have put smiles on their faces and offered them the tools to navigate life in the modern world.
The Foundation is a shining example that an important part of living a happy and fulfilling life includes being part of a close-knit community where you can share, help, and support the people you care about.
