Over 4,500 Osun Residents Benefit From Fidelity Bank Food Bank Initiative

Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its corporate social responsibility efforts to Osun State, providing essential food items to over 4,500 residents in Abere and Modakeke communities through its Fidelity Food Bank initiative.

The two-day outreach, organized in collaboration with the Osun State Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment and the Esther Adeleke Foundation, is part of the bank’s broader commitment to alleviating hunger and poverty in Nigeria.

Representing the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, at the distribution event was the Regional Bank Head, Southwest II, Mrs. Morenike Olabisi. She emphasized that the initiative, launched in April 2023, has reached communities across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

“This is the third food distribution exercise in Osun State this year. Our goal is to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger – while empowering people and improving livelihoods,” Olabisi said.

She also announced the donation of 500 Point of Sale (POS) machines to the state’s Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment to support small business owners and families with new income opportunities.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Empowerment, Bayo Ogungbangbe, lauded the bank for its consistent support and urged other corporate entities to follow Fidelity’s example.

“This is not Fidelity Bank’s first intervention in Osun, and their commitment to the welfare of our people is deeply appreciated,” Ogungbangbe noted.

The founder of the Esther Adeleke Foundation and wife of the state governor, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, also praised the bank’s efforts. She stated that the partnership with Fidelity Bank has been instrumental in supporting vulnerable populations across the state.

“My resolve to help the needy led to this collaboration. We started at Asubiaro Hospital in Osogbo, and the impact has been encouraging. I commend Fidelity Bank for their dedication and assure them of our continued support,” she said.
