In a successful operation on July 26, 2023, troops from Operation HAKORIN DAMISA IV in Safe Haven, exhibited their professionalism when they encountered suspected bandits in the Rugan/Basiru village of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The bandits opened fire on the troops, but the soldiers swiftly retaliated, compelling the assailants to retreat.
As a result of the operation, the troops were able to recover valuable items, including 2 x AK 47 Rifles with Registration Numbers 07873 and B-32134, 15 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, 3 x locally fabricated guns, and a set of military desert camouflage uniforms.
Ten suspects were apprehended and are currently being thoroughly investigated.
In another development, the troop thwarted an attempted attack on Mangun and Patlong villages in Mangu LGA.
Responding promptly and decisively, the troops neutralized several bandits, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
On July 25, 2023, the troops responded to gunfire from suspected bandits along the Janneret/Washina Changal and Gyambwas roads in Mangu LGA.
The bandits quickly fled upon seeing the troops, leaving behind 3 x motorcycles and 1 x locally fabricated gun.
In another daring rescue operation on the same day, the troops answered a distress call from Rumfar Gwamna village, rescuing 5 kidnapped victims and recovering a Toyota Camry and Sharon cars.
Moreover, the troops conducted successful operations in various areas, including Unguwan Haruna, Kibam, and Dogon Daji forest.
During these operations, they rescued 4 more victims, and two suspected kidnappers were arrested.
On July 22, 2023, troops yielded proactively to a distress call from Makabat village in Bokkos, resulting in the capture of 2 miscreants and the recovery of 2 x locally fabricated rifles.
Notably, a Combat Team was able to recover 15 rustled cows in the Fan District of Barkin-Ladi LGA.
In addition, 37 cows were detained for grazing on farmlands belonging to locals in Shimlan and Barkin Ladi villages.
In a significant breakthrough, the troops also managed to capture a notorious gunrunner who was involved in trafficking arms and ammunition in the North West and North Central regions.
The operation led to the recovery of 1 x AK 47 Rifle and magazine at Soi village, Gidan Akwati Gashish District.
