The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Local Content Policy and Development, Mr. Laurence Chukwudi Izegbu yesterday tasked major Oil producing and servicing companies operating in Kwale and Warri axis of Delta State on the need to engage youths in the area as a way of promoting local content policy of the government.
In a statement made available to Newsmen weekend, Okowa’s aide reiterated that extractive industries operating in Delta State must give priority to Deltans in the areas of employment and B2B perspectives.
Mr. Izegbu noted that Delta State have the skill sets and raw materials needed by oil producing communities in Delta State.
“Oil producing companies have similar pricing mechanisms globally and robust ways of addressing corporate social responsibility.
“It appears that this deliberate neglect and impoverishment of host communities only occur in Nigeria. This is unacceptable.” Izegbu said.
He urged extractive industries in Delta State to comply with the laws of Local content Agency.
