As part of its ongoing commitment to youth development and community engagement, China-Africa Investment FZC, the management company of the Ogun Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ), on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, organized a Children’s Day Football Competition for 18 public primary and secondary schools across Igbesa and Ejila Awori communities in Ogun State.

The colorful event, which marked the 2025 Children’s Day celebration, brought together hundreds of pupils, educators, community leaders, and local government education officials in a spirited display of sportsmanship, unity, and celebration of childhood. Beyond the football matches, the event served as a platform for promoting teamwork, discipline, and the overall well-being of the young participants.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Cai Fanguan, Assistant Manager of China-Africa Investment FZC, emphasized that the initiative extends beyond sports.

“This event is not just about football. It is a platform to promote teamwork, discipline, and community spirit, while celebrating the energy and potential of our children,” he said.

“In continuation of our educational support, today’s donation of musical instruments will help address the long-standing need for functional assembly equipment in all 18 public schools across Igbesa and Ejila.”

The event also featured a royal endorsement from His Royal Majesty, Oba Engr. Teslim Nasir, the Olodan of Odan Abuja, who praised OGFTZ’s consistent contribution to community development. He noted that the Zone has shown intentionality in promoting educational growth and called on students to take advantage of such opportunities.

“OGFTZ has been intentional in supporting development in all aspects, especially in education. I encourage all students to take their studies seriously and make the most of opportunities like this,” the monarch urged.

In the spirit of Children’s Day, all students in attendance received gift items, ensuring that no child left the venue without a token of joy. Awards were given to the Highest Goal Scorers, while medals were presented to the winning teams in both the primary and secondary school categories.

The event drew the attendance of other traditional rulers, community leaders, and top officials of the Ado/Odo/Ota Local Government Education Authority, led by the Education Secretary. Their participation reinforced the collective commitment to empowering the younger generation through impactful initiatives.

Over the years, OGFTZ has maintained a strong record of supporting host communities. In 2024, the Zone donated public address systems to government schools in Igbesa to improve learning and communication. This year’s football competition and donation of musical instruments further affirm OGFTZ’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for academic and personal development.

With each initiative, OGFTZ continues to underscore the role of public-private partnerships in shaping a better future through education, sports, and community support.
