In a formal ceremony held today at the NIMASA Towers in Victoria Island, the outgoing Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh OFR, officially handed over the reins of the agency to Honorable Chudi Offodile, the Agency’s Executive Director of Finance and Administration.
The transition comes following the expiration of Jamoh’s tenure on March 10, 2024.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve in his capacity, Jamoh extended appreciation to the Federal Government and attributed his tenure as a privilege to contribute to Nigeria’s maritime sector. “I count myself a privileged Nigerian to have occupied this position,” Jamoh remarked, emphasizing his commitment to remaining connected to the agency despite stepping down from his role.
Acknowledging the dedication and professionalism of NIMASA staff, Jamoh commended their efforts in advancing the agency’s mandate during his tenure. He urged them to continue their good work and extend their cooperation to the incoming leadership.
In his response, Honorable Chudi Offodile expressed gratitude to Jamoh for his mentorship and guidance during their time working together. Recognizing Jamoh’s expertise, Offodile emphasized the continued relevance of his insights in shaping the industry’s trajectory.
The handover ceremony, in compliance with the Federal Government’s End of Tenure Processes for Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, marked a smooth transition of leadership within NIMASA. As Dr. Bashir Jamoh bids farewell to his role, the agency looks ahead to a new chapter under the leadership of Honorable Chudi Offodile.
