Nwolisa Advocates Reforms, Calls Out Leadership Deficit In Freight, Logistics Sector

The President of the Association of Nigeria Customs Brokers (ANCB) and the National Compliance Joint Task Force of Licensed Clearing Agents (NCJTFLCA), High Chief Dr. Basil Nwolisa, has decried the lack of visionary leadership in Nigeria’s freight and transport logistics industry, calling for urgent reforms to reposition the sector for greater efficiency and sustainable growth.

In a statement released on behalf of the NCJTFLCA, Dr. Nwolisa criticized the tendency to blame importers for corruption and systemic failures, describing it as intellectually dishonest and counterproductive. He emphasized that importers are not involved in policy formulation and should not be held responsible for government inefficiencies or flawed regulatory practices.

“The continued blame game only reveals the intellectual inadequacies of some stakeholders in the sector. What we need now is not scapegoating, but a sincere and informed effort to address the leadership vacuum in the industry,” he said.

To address these issues, Dr. Nwolisa outlined a strategic path forward that includes the establishment of mentorship programs, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders, leadership development and training initiatives, and encouraging innovation and strategic thinking across all levels of the logistics and freight forwarding ecosystem.

He noted that the National Compliance Joint Task Force, in partnership with key industry players and relevant organizations, has initiated a series of engagements and strategic discussions. These are aimed at producing actionable solutions and building a new generation of industry professionals equipped with integrity, competence, and a renewed sense of purpose.

“In the next few weeks, the Task Force will roll out plans focused on grooming a workforce that will redefine the freight and logistics landscape through sincerity of purpose and intellectual candour,” Nwolisa revealed.

The NCJTFLCA, through its website ncjtflca.com, continues to advocate compliance, professionalism, and policy reforms that will help Nigeria’s logistics industry adapt to global standards and drive economic development.
