    NUJ Lagos 2023 Press Week Commences With Elegance

    The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, is gearing up for the commencement of its much-anticipated 2023 Press Week on Monday, August 21st.

    In a recent announcement from the State Council’s Chairman, Comrade Adeleye Ajayi, the week-long event will inaugurate with a Health Walk, commencing from Ikeja Under Bridge and concluding at the NUJ Secretariat located at 9A, Iyalla Street, Alausa, Ikeja, all taking place on the 21st of August, 2023.

    Ajayi conveyed, “This eventful week will shine a spotlight on two significant occurrences: firstly, a Public Lecture themed ‘Rebuilding Nigeria Post-Elections: A Route to National Healing and Harmony,’ to be delivered by the esteemed Guest Speaker, Prof. Sunday Alawode, the Dean of the School of Communication Studies at Lagos State University (LASU).

    The lecture, scheduled for Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023, will be chaired by Mr. Martins Oloja, the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of The Guardian Newspapers. The venue for this intellectual discourse will be the Combo Hall at LTV Compound, situated on Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi-Ikeja.”

    “The second highlight,” Ajayi continued, “is the illustrious Gala Awards Night, set to take place on Friday, August 25th, 2023, also at the Combo Hall. This captivating event will bestow honors upon prominent Nigerians and respected corporate entities.

    Among the distinguished recipients are Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District; Honorable James Abiodun Faleke, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency; Honorable Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01; along with Airtel Nigeria and Nigeria Breweries Plc. Esteemed leaders and members of the Union will also be recognized.”

    The Chairman divulged additional engaging activities, including visits to an Orphanage/Home for the Elderly, a Cultural Day/Chapel Rendezvous on Thursday, August 24th, and the observance of Jumat and Thanksgiving Services on Friday, August 25th, and Sunday, August 27th, respectively.

    He urged all Chapel Chairmen, Secretaries, and their members to enthusiastically partake in this annual event, assuring them that it will be an enlightening, entertaining, and gratifying experience.
