The Anambra State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has promised Nigeria Immigration Service of enhanced synergy especially in the areas of intelligence gathering and sharing.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer Command, DSC Okadigbo Edwin to Hybrid News Nigeria.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Everestus C. Obiyo JP+ gave this assurance when he played host to the State Controller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Ngozi Odikpo pcc who led her management team to the State Headquarters Awka.
The Immigration Controller had during her earlier remarks informed Mr. Obiyo that the visit was part of her ongoing tour of meeting with relevant stakeholders in the State.
She called for greater synergy among sister security agencies while commending the level of cooperation she had seen and enjoyed among security agencies in the State since her arrival as the NIS boss, adding that there was a need to sustain the tempo.
She said “My visit to your office is predicted on the need for effective working relationship with NSCDC for a seamless flow of information”
Mrs. Odikpo used the opportunity to educate the State Commandant on the recently launched enhanced electronic passport which an applicants no longer need the services of third parties to obtain passports.
“With enhanced electronic passport It is now easy to apply online. Applicants will only be required to go to the selected Passport Office on the appointment date for enrolment”, she said.
In his response, Commandant Obiyo, who appreciated the visit of NIS Controller describing it as timely considering that both NSCDC and NIS are under the same ministry of Interior.
He acknowledged that both NSCDC and NIS perform the same job of ensuring that there is peace and order in the state.
Obiyo noted that Anambra State is relatively peaceful due to the cooperation presently being enjoyed among security agencies which should be sustained and improved upon.
Meanwhile, Obiyo has commended the Immigration Service over the enhanced electronic passport which would eliminate passport racketeering and touting adding that it was a boast to the image of Immigration Service and the country at large.
