NNS BEECROFT Conducts Free Medical Outreach In Majidun Community

In a bid to strengthen civil-military relations and provide healthcare support to underserved communities, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft has conducted a free medical outreach in the Majidun community of Ikorodu West Local Government Area, Lagos State.

The outreach, known as “Medical Rhapsody,” was held on Tuesday under the leadership of Commodore Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, the Maritime Component Commander (MCC) South-West, Operation AWATSE. The initiative provided free blood sugar tests, consultations, and medications to residents, with a special focus on pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations (CDCMR), Rear Admiral OA Bankole, highlighted that the exercise aligns with the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, to conduct free medical programs across the eight theatres of operations in Nigeria. He emphasized that such initiatives not only enhance public health but also foster a positive relationship between the military and local communities.

Rear Admiral Bankole urged Majidun residents to take full advantage of the services and to support security efforts by providing credible information on criminal activities to ensure a safer environment.

Expressing gratitude, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West, Honourable Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, commended NNS Beecroft for its efforts in delivering essential medical care. He assured continued cooperation with the military in safeguarding lives and property in the region.

The initiative reinforces the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to humanitarian services and community engagement as part of its broader security and civil-military strategy.
