The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has issued a strong disclaimer regarding a fraudulent employment scheme that has been circulating online.

Reports of a supposed “massive recruitment” exercise by NIMASA have been spreading across various social media platforms, prompting the agency to caution the public against falling victim to this scam.

The perpetrators behind this deceptive scheme have been reaching out to unsuspecting individuals through email, social media, and other online platforms, soliciting payment, inducements, advance fees, or other favors in exchange for guaranteed employment.

NIMASA has emphatically stated that it does not engage in any form of communication or recruitment process through third-party online channels, emails, or social media platforms.

In an official statement, NIMASA categorically disavowed any association with these fraudulent activities and urged the public not to make any payments to individuals falsely claiming to represent the agency.

The consequences of such actions could result in extortion and financial losses for the victims. NIMASA emphasized that it does not authorize any entity or individuals to act on its behalf in matters of recruitment.

The agency strongly advises the public to exercise caution and skepticism when encountering job offers purportedly from NIMASA. It is essential to verify the authenticity of such claims in order to avoid falling prey to scammers. Any suspicious incidents should be promptly reported to NIMASA via email at info@nimasa.gov.ng or to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

NIMASA further declared that it bears no responsibility for any losses incurred by individuals who rely on fraudulent emails or online publications claiming to be affiliated with the agency. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and seek official verification directly from NIMASA to safeguard against potential scams.

With this warning, NIMASA aims to protect innocent job seekers from being exploited by unscrupulous individuals and emphasizes its commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in its recruitment processes.
