The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has issued a public warning regarding the proliferation of fake social media accounts falsely claiming to be associated with him. In a statement released via his verified X handle, @MobereolaD, Dr. Mobereola clarified that these unauthorized accounts are neither affiliated with him nor endorsed by NIMASA.
Dr. Mobereola urged the public to exercise caution and only engage with the agency through official social media platforms to avoid being misled. He emphasized that any entity or individual purporting to represent NIMASA or any member of its Executive Management is doing so fraudulently.
“NIMASA has not designated any entity or persons to act on its behalf,” Dr. Mobereola stated, advising the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities. The agency has disclaimed any responsibility for actions taken by these fraudulent accounts and stressed that any losses incurred due to reliance on such fake profiles, emails, or online publications will not be NIMASA’s liability.
The public is encouraged to report any encounters with these fake accounts to info@nimasa.gov.ng or contact law enforcement agencies.
