In a continuous operation aimed at eradicating criminal activities in the waterways, the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH (NNS SOROH) personnel, led by Commander NNS SOROH, Commodore Olushina Ojebode, conducted a successful mission on July 15, 2023.
While patrolling the waters of Gbaram Community in Agbadam-Foropa, the team encountered six armed individuals in a speedboat who launched an attack on our troops. However, our forces swiftly responded, overpowering the assailants and forcing them to flee in disarray.
During the operation, the armed men’s weapons and ammunition were seized. The confiscated items included 2 AK-47 rifles, 6 AK-47 magazines, 133 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a small Tecno phone, among other things.
In a separate incident, the same troops engaged in an operation against crude oil theft in Southern Ijaw. They discovered a wooden boat loaded with illegal crude oil products. Consequently, the boat was rendered inoperable in compliance with existing regulations and standard operating procedures.
Commander Ojebode expressed his appreciation for the troops’ bravery and emphasized the commitment of the Nigerian Navy, under the leadership of Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukuwu Ogalla, Chief of the Naval Staff, to ensuring the safety and security of Nigeria’s maritime domain.
The troops, undeterred by this success, remain resolute in their determination to eliminate all forms of criminal activities within the nation’s waterways, providing a secure environment for Bayelsans and all Nigerians.
