Students from the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS), Ogbomoso on has emerged winner in a Chemistry competition organised by the American Chemical Society, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso Chapter.
A statement signed by Bola Oshatuyi, Commandant NNSS Ogbomoso, Oyo State read that 14 students represented the School in the competition.
“On Wed 9 Nov 22, a total of 14 students from the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS) Ogbomoso and other students from over 20 schools within Oyo State participated in a Chemistry competition.
“The competition was hosted by the American Chemical Society, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso Chapter.
“The program featured lectures, quiz and project presentation by students of participating schools.
“The students were tasked to think about a problem that can be solved with the knowledge of Chemistry in an appropriate way.
“Consequently, the students of NNSS Ogbomoso presented a project on how electrolytes can be used to generate electricity and home-made electrolyte tester.
“It is noteworthy that students of NNSS Ogbomoso emerged first position out of the 20 different schools in Oyo state that participated in the Quiz and project presentation competition.
“Pertinently, the Organizers awarded the School a cash price of N75,000. Accordingly, the Comdt magnanimously shared the cash price amongst the 14 students and the chemistry teacher that was the team leader for the outstanding feat.” It read.
