In line with directives from the Head of Service of the Federation, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has launched a comprehensive audit of all its personnel. The exercise, initiated on May 21, 2024, from the Zonal Headquarters, commenced on May 27, 2024, at the Tin-Can Island Port Area Command.
The Tin-Can Island Port Area is hosting a team of audit officers from the Service Headquarters, led by Comptroller Welfare HRD, Comptroller EJ Harrison. Officers from Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) and Lilypond Area Command are also participating in the exercise, which will run until May 29, 2024.
Comptroller EJ Harrison, along with the respective Area Controllers of the Command—Compt. DA Nnadi mni, Compt. TM Daniyan, and Compt. AY Odusanya—addressed the officers at the Tin-Can Area Command conference room. Harrison emphasized the importance of good conduct during the audit and assured that all officers would be attended to. He explained that the audit aims to update personnel records, assist in promotion exercises, and assess the status of officers for effective deployment.
Comptroller Nnadi mni reassured stakeholders that the audit would not disrupt port operations. He urged everyone to continue their activities as usual, highlighting that the primary goal of the NCS is to facilitate trade professionally and efficiently by ensuring competency-based human resource deployment.
