Nigerian-born broadcast journalist Richard Edoki, popularly known as Richybongo, has been named a finalist in the prestigious Best Newcomer category at the National Hospital Radio Awards 2025. The annual event, organized by the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA), celebrates outstanding contributions to hospital broadcasting across the UK.
Richybongo hosts the popular show African Vibe with Richybongo on CHBN Radio, a Community Hospital Broadcasting Network station based in Cornwall. The program, which airs every Sunday evening, highlights the cultural richness and diversity of African people while fostering inclusivity with local Cornish audiences.
Through music, food, dress sense, and language, Richybongo has created a platform that bridges cultural gaps and builds a shared sense of community. Speaking about his work, he expressed pride in the show’s ability to connect different cultures:
