Nigerian Army Responds To Water Shortage Concerns At 14 Brigade Ohafia Barracks

The Headquarters 14 Brigade has taken note of the circulating report by Sahara Reporters regarding the grievances expressed by soldiers and their families over the scarcity of water for cooking purposes during the festive season at the 14 Brigade Ohafia Barracks in Abia State.

Expressing deep concern, the Brigade acknowledged the persistent challenge of water supply in the barracks, acknowledging the adverse impact it has had on the living conditions of soldiers and their families.

Efforts to mitigate this challenge have been ongoing, notably since the appointment of the current Brigade Commander, who has proactively tackled the issue of malfunctioning boreholes within the barracks. Through dedicated efforts, several defective boreholes were repaired, ensuring a relatively stable water supply. Furthermore, the duration of power supply was extended by utilizing generators to facilitate water pumping, aiming to enhance the living conditions for personnel and their families.

These initiatives underscore the Brigade’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and comfort of its personnel and their families. Additional measures are underway to further improve water availability and other essential amenities within the barracks. The Brigade is diligently working towards ensuring a convenient and comfortable living environment at 14 Brigade Ohafia for soldiers and their families.
