Nigerian Army Rescues Human Parts Suspect From Mob, Nabs Drug Peddlers In Ogun

Troops of 81 Division Nigerian Army, operating under the 35 Artillery Brigade, have arrested a suspected human parts trafficker and three alleged drug peddlers in separate operations in Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, said the arrest of the suspected human parts trafficker was made at Kulanla Odomoola following actionable intelligence.

According to Ayeni, troops intervened to rescue the suspect from an angry mob attempting to lynch him. The suspect, along with the exhibits recovered from him, has been handed over to the Nigeria Police at Noforija for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In a separate operation, troops on patrol in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state apprehended three individuals suspected of drug peddling. They were caught with two packs of substances believed to be Indian hemp, hidden under 60 kilograms of cargo in a white J5 vehicle.

The suspects and the seized items were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Ilaro Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Lieutenant Colonel Ayeni reiterated the Division’s commitment to deploying every legitimate means to protect law-abiding citizens and rid its operational areas of criminal elements.
