In a concerted effort to address security challenges in Lagos and Ogun states, the Nigerian Army (NA) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration. This renewed partnership was highlighted during a courtesy visit by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division NA, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, on October 29, 2024.
Held at the 81 Division Headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, the visit focused on strengthening ties between the two security agencies. Major General Mijinyawa emphasized the strategic importance of ensuring peace and security in Lagos and Ogun states, given their critical economic roles. He assured AIG Fayoade of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing support and acknowledged the essential role the Nigeria Police Force plays in maintaining internal security.
AIG Fayoade highlighted the importance of sustaining the Army-Police synergy, noting its significance in enhancing national security. He pledged the NPF’s full cooperation in safeguarding citizens across the two states, underscoring the positive impact of their combined efforts.
Both leaders commended past joint operations and their effectiveness in improving security in the region. The visit concluded with a symbolic exchange of souvenirs, marking the mutual commitment of the two forces to continued cooperation.
