In a tragic incident, a female officer of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) named George has been discovered deceased in her apartment in Lagos.
The confirmation of the incident was made by Ayodele Famuyiwa, the NAF director of public relations and information, in response to inquiries from TheCable on Sunday.
However, Famuyiwa stated that he currently lacks complete details regarding the situation.
According to military sources cited by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, George served as a master warrant officer at the 651 base services group in Lagos until her unfortunate demise.
One of the sources informed the publication that the deceased was found unresponsive in her residence at block T5, Flat 8, located in the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Ikeja.
Reportedly, George took her own life by hanging herself in her room at approximately 2 pm on Saturday.
The sources further disclosed that three air provosts, accompanied by another team of officers, pronounced the NAF personnel dead and proceeded to evacuate her remains to the 661 NAF hospital.
NAF authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of her death, as stated by the sources.
