In a significant operation aimed at weakening the remaining terrorist presence in the Northeast, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai successfully executed a decisive air interdiction mission on August 16, 2024, in Arina, Southern Tumbuns, Borno State. The mission, conducted by the Nigerian Air Force, targeted a group of terrorists identified through rigorous intelligence efforts.

Prior to the strike, intelligence reports had revealed the clandestine movement of terrorists into the area from neighboring locations. To confirm the presence of these threats, the Air Force conducted detailed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions on August 12 and 15, 2024. These missions identified numerous terrorists and concealed structures, leading to the launch of coordinated airstrikes.

The airstrikes were successful, resulting in the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of key structures. A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) confirmed that the operation obliterated several pieces of equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary used by the terrorists.

Among those neutralized were five key terrorist leaders, identified as Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki. Over 35 additional foot soldiers were also reportedly killed in the operation.

The Nigerian Air Force highlighted that this operation has significantly degraded the operational capacity of the remaining terrorist elements in the region. The Air Force remains committed to supporting the broader efforts of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in restoring peace and security to the Northeast.

Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force to safeguarding the region and ensuring the safety of both civilians and military personnel.
