The officers allegedly extorted Thirty Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N30,300,000) from a member of the public. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered the commencement of disciplinary proceedings as part of the force’s commitment to upholding integrity and accountability. The disciplinary measures emphasize the zero-tolerance stance of the Nigeria Police Force towards misconduct or corruption within its ranks.
The arrested officers, who initially evaded authorities at the onset of the investigation, are now in custody.
