Nigeria Customs Service Wins International Public Relations Award For Crisis Communication Campaign

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been awarded the prestigious Golden World Award (GWA) for Crisis Communication by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). The recognition was presented during a ceremony on October 18, 2024, at the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade, Serbia, honoring NCS’s strategic communication efforts.

Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi received the award on behalf of the Service, with the accolade stemming from the “100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service” campaign. The campaign, led during Adeniyi’s first 100 days in office, was praised for effectively addressing operational challenges, fostering stronger stakeholder collaboration, enhancing border security, and boosting revenue generation.

IPRA President Nataša Pavlović Bujas and Secretary-General Philip Sheppard commended Adeniyi’s leadership and the significant impact of the NCS campaign in overcoming crises and promoting a positive outlook within the organisation.

The Golden World Awards celebrate excellence in public relations globally, and the NCS’s recognition highlights its commitment to international standards of communication and governance. Looking ahead, 2024 has been declared the “Year of Stakeholders,” with NCS focusing on strengthening partnerships through continued strategic communication.
