The National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Director of Nigeria Customs Service Broadcasting Network (NCBN), Chief Superintendent of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, embarked on a working visit to the NCBN premises on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, to strategize the revival of the broadcasting network.
The purpose of the visit centered on discussions aimed at revitalizing the NCBN to ensure its optimal functioning under the leadership of CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.
Welcomed warmly by Managing Director Jamilu Yusuf at the network’s headquarters in Guzape, Abuja, CSC Maiwada reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to restoring NCBN to its former prominence.
Having served as NCBN’s pioneer Liaison Officer during its establishment in 2020, CSC Maiwada expressed optimism about the network’s potential resurgence. He stressed the importance of a specialized broadcasting station dedicated to reporting on commerce, trade, and national economic matters.
“We are reinvigorated and determined to ensure the station thrives, contributing to a wider audience with specialized broadcasting,” declared CSC Maiwada.
Highlighting the NCS’s dedication to fostering stronger ties with the Nigerian populace, CSC Maiwada emphasized the focus on disseminating accurate information about the Service. He linked these efforts to CGC Bashir Adeniyi’s initiatives aimed at promoting trade, combatting smuggling, and bolstering revenue for national infrastructural development.
In response, Managing Director Jamilu Yusuf expressed gratitude for the visit, considering it both timely and long-awaited. He underscored the visit’s importance in assessing NCBN’s readiness for its relaunch and reaffirmed the network’s commitment to delivering quality broadcasts in line with national economic interests.
Mr. Yusuf also expressed satisfaction in guiding the PRO and his team through an office tour, providing crucial insights into the current state of facilities and fostering discussions on areas necessitating attention in the network’s re-establishment process.
As plans for revitalizing NCBN take shape, the collaborative efforts between the Nigeria Customs Service and the broadcasting network promise an auspicious future for improved communication and disseminating critical information concerning the nation’s economy.
