ABUJA—The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has established a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit and launched the “Customs Cares” initiative to drive national development and foster inclusive growth in communities where it operates.
The initiative reflects the Service’s commitment to contributing beyond trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security. The newly created CSR Unit will lead various programs aligned with national development priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These programs will include school renovations, mobile clinic activations, food and medical aid, agricultural support, skills acquisition programs, and youth empowerment.
According to the NCS, the initiative aims to enhance public trust, strengthen community relations, and improve the well-being of Nigerians. Recognizing the importance of partnerships, the Service plans to collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, private sector partners, and local communities to ensure the success of the project.
Under the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, the NCS is committed to integrating corporate social responsibility into its core operations. The “Customs Cares” initiative aligns with the Presidential Priority Areas and supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda by reinforcing community engagement and staff participation in national development efforts.
The Service encourages its officers, stakeholders, and the public to embrace the initiative as a collective effort to drive positive change. As the program progresses, the NCS will continue to engage relevant partners to expand its impact and reach across the country.
