Nigeria Customs, NIPR FCT Chapter Partner To Promote Excellence In Public Relations

In a move aimed at deepening professionalism and ethical standards in public relations practice, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), FCT Chapter, have agreed to strengthen collaboration and institutional partnerships.

This renewed alliance was the outcome of a courtesy visit by the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO) of the NCS, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, to the NIPR FCT Secretariat in Abuja on Friday, May 16, 2025.

Maiwada, who led a delegation of officers from the NCS Public Relations Unit, said the visit was part of efforts to build bridges between government agencies and professional PR bodies to promote knowledge sharing, strategic communication, and excellence in practice.

“We believe that excellence and professionalism should be the hallmark of our practice of public relations in the Nigeria Customs Service and beyond,” he stated. He noted that the Customs PR Unit under his leadership is powered by youthful innovation, dedication, and the unwavering support of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.

Receiving the delegation, Chairman of the NIPR FCT Chapter, Mr. Stanley Ogadigo, applauded the Customs Service for its ongoing efforts in public engagement and transparency, particularly under the current CG’s leadership.

“We’re proud of the strides made by the Nigeria Customs Service. The Comptroller-General has proven to be a shining example of effective leadership,” Ogadigo said.

He pledged the NIPR’s continued support in promoting impactful initiatives across the public sector and revealed plans for joint efforts in capacity building, advocacy, and corporate social responsibility.

Discussions at the meeting touched on a wide range of topics, including the design of professional development programmes, adaptation of communication strategies to emerging media trends, and initiatives to uphold ethical standards in public discourse.

Both the NCS and NIPR reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and strategic communication that strengthens public trust in government institutions.

The meeting ended on a collaborative note, with both parties expressing readiness to pursue initiatives that will advance public sector communication and build a stronger, more professional PR ecosystem in Nigeria.
