In a fiercely contested showdown at the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) Premier Basketball Men’s Final Eight Championships, the Nigeria Customs Service Men’s Basketball Team emerged triumphant, claiming the championship title of the Savannah Conference. The thrilling match took place in Abuja, culminating in a 83-78 win against Gboko City Chiefs on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
This hard-earned victory guarantees their entry into the Final Eight Playoffs set to be held in Lagos, showcasing their prowess and sealing their qualification.
Superintendent of Customs Akinwale Fatoki, the Public Relations Officer of the Training Doctrine Command, Gwagwalada, lauded the team’s dominant performance throughout the campaign. The NCS team showcased their superiority by securing victories in all 13 matches, facing off against formidable opponents like Nile University, Kano Pillars, Bauchi Nets, Plateau Peaks, Gboko City Chiefs, Gombe Bulls, and Correctional Services.
Topping the league table, Nigeria Customs Service secured their place in the Final Eight Playoffs, with Gboko City Chiefs claiming the second spot.
Coach Muhammed Abba, head coach of the Nigeria Customs Service Team, expressed immense satisfaction with the team’s remarkable display. He praised their resilience, strength, and exceptional shooting abilities, setting their sights on securing a place in the prestigious Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The forthcoming Final Eight Playoffs will showcase four top teams, two from each of the Savannah Conference and Atlantic Conference Leagues. The ultimate victor of the 2023 NBBF Premier Basketball League will proudly represent Nigeria at the esteemed BAL event, scheduled to take place at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
