The National Sports Commission (NSC) has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its vital support in securing Nigeria’s hosting rights for the 2025 Women’s African Club Volleyball Championship. The prestigious tournament, organized by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), is set to take place in Abuja from April 1 to 14, 2025.
In a letter of appreciation dated March 17, 2025, the director-general of the NSC, Honourable Bukola Olopade, expressed gratitude to the comptroller-general of customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for the service’s financial backing in covering the bidding fees. He described the NCS’s intervention as a demonstration of its strong commitment to sports development in Nigeria.
“At a time when sports development in Nigeria requires critical support, this proactive intervention has made a significant impact. The dedication of resources and efforts to ensure that the prestigious championship is held in Nigeria is a rare demonstration of service and commitment to national sports development,” Olopade stated.
With the hosting rights secured, Nigeria is now set to welcome elite volleyball clubs from across Africa, further strengthening its position as a leading force in the continent’s sports scene. The NSC reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with key stakeholders to develop sustainable sports strategies that align with global standards.
Extending his appreciation to the comptroller-general of customs and his team, Olopade emphasized the importance of continued partnership in promoting Nigerian sports on the international stage.
