NIGERIA @ 61: NSCDC Anambra State Commandant Joins Prayers For The Spirit Of Love And Unity In Commemoration Of Independence Day Celebration

Ahead of the Ist October Independence celebration, the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Mr. Everestus Chimezie Obiyo JP today Sunday 26th of September, 2021 participated at the Nigeria’s 61st Independence Eucharistic Celebration held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka in commemoration of Nigeria’s 61st Independence day Anniversary. This was contained in a press statement by the Spokesperson of the command DSC Okadigbo Edwin.

The concelebrated eucharistic celebration presided over by the Catholic bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor and other Catholic Priests had in attendance the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Willie Obiano ably represented by his Deputy – Dr. Nkem Okeke, Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Service Commanders and members of the State Executive Council, etc.

In his homily, Bishop Ezeokafor made it known that despite the challenges confronting Nigeria that he is optimistic of a greater Nigeria. He called on Nigerians to work for peace, unity and seek understanding amongst each other.

While praying for the Country to survive Her Current Security challenges, the Presiding Bishop called for equity, justice, and fairness with regards to socio-economic developments and distribution of democratic dividends to all Nigerians.

Commandant Obiyo later joined in special prayers offered for all Nigerians to emulate the selfless Service of our forefathers; the nationalists who vigorously and tirelessly fought for our self – rule system.
