As part of its commitment to social responsibility and civic duty, NewsOnline Nigeria, one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing credible online newspapers, has partnered with several notable organizations to sponsor the 2024 Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Students Week. The event, tagged “Loud Am,” is being organized by the Students Representative Council (SRC) and is scheduled to take place from June 24th to 29th, 2024.
The sponsorship is a collaborative effort that includes contributions from News Central, Airtel Nigeria, Lagos State TV Station, ThisDay Newspaper, Focalpoint, and BoostNaija, among others. The NIJ Students Week is designed to provide a break from academic pursuits and offer students an opportunity to engage in a variety of enriching activities.
The event promises a diverse lineup of programs, including the NIJ Got Talent Competition, Cultural Day, Sports Day, Career Show, Concert, and a Dinner and Awards Night. These activities aim to foster creativity, cultural awareness, and career development among the students.
During the announcement of the sponsorship, NewsOnline Nigeria Publisher, Mmadubugwu Justice Nonso, expressed his excitement about supporting the next generation of journalists. “I am thrilled to be here today to support the next generation of journalists. As a strong believer in the power of journalism, our media organization is honored to be one of the sponsors of this year’s event,” he said.
Nonso emphasized the importance of nurturing young journalists, stating, “Journalism plays a vital role in shaping our society, and it’s essential we nurture and encourage young minds to pursue their passion for storytelling. This sponsorship is a small investment in the overall growth of journalism in Nigeria, and I have no doubt they will make a positive impact in the world of journalism.”
He urged the students to continue pursuing their dreams and highlighted the role of a free press in a healthy democracy. “Remember, a free press is the backbone of a healthy democracy, and your contributions will be invaluable. Congratulations once again, and I wish you all the best on your journalistic journey,” Nonso added.
Daniel Efeurhobo, Chairman of the Students Week Organizing Committee 2024, expressed his gratitude for the support and promised to utilize it effectively to ensure a successful event. “We are very happy to receive this support and we promise to utilize it effectively to ensure a successful conduct of the event,” he said.
NewsOnline Nigeria was also a sponsor of the 2023 Students Week, where Mr. Justice received “A Special Recognition Award” for his relentless desire to serve the people and society through his journalistic and SEO expertise.
