The Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, welcomed the assumption of duty by Superintendent of Police (SP) Ayuba Tunni Umma, the freshly appointed Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the region. A distinguished Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), SP Ayuba Tunni Umma, stepped into her role with a pledge to discharge her responsibilities with utmost professionalism.
SP Ayuba, a graduate of Microbiology from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, joined the force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 2010. Her dedication to honing her skills led her to pursue various professional courses, both domestically and internationally, with a focus on public relations.
Her appointment as the ZPPRO comes following her predecessor, SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, as she was assigned by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM. The IGP’s directive aims to enhance community engagement, foster synergy, interagency collaboration, and bolster communication within Zone 2 Command, encompassing Lagos and Ogun states.
SP Ayuba’s commendable tenure within the force spans diverse roles, including assignments at the Force CID Annex in Kaduna, the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) at Milverton Ikoyi, Lagos, and stints as Staff Officer Senior (SOS) in Jigawa State Command. Her trajectory also includes roles as Unit Commander at the Special Protection Unit (SPU), Base 2 Lagos, Staff Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, and Deputy Head of the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) at Force Headquarters Abuja before assuming her new role at PPRO Zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos.
Her commitment to professional growth saw her participating in various comprehensive courses such as the Criminal Justice Executive Course at KAIPTC, Police Middle Management Course at KAIPTC, Human Right Base and Gender Sensitive Policing, and courses focused on Strategic Communication, Leadership, and Police Accountability.
Expressing gratitude to the IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Ari Mohammed Ali, FCIA, psc+, SP Ayuba assured her dedication to fulfilling her duties professionally. She called for the support and cooperation of the public, especially the residents of Lagos and Ogun states, as she embarks on her new responsibilities.
