Nestlé Professional, the Out-of-Home business arm of Nestlé Nigeria, has unveiled Maggi Soya Chunks as part of its Affordable Nutrition initiative to support food vendors, chefs, and event planners. The launch was held during the Lagos edition of the “Business of Food” workshop, a program aimed at equipping food business operators with innovative solutions to thrive in challenging economic times.
Recognizing the critical role of canteens, grillers, and street food vendors in providing daily nutrition, Nestlé Professional highlighted the challenges these businesses face in balancing profitability with the provision of nutritious meals. The “Business of Food” workshop series, now in its ninth edition, has trained over 2,000 food vendors across nine states in skills to grow their businesses while promoting better nutrition.
Maggi Soya Chunks, a cost-effective, soya-based texturized protein, was introduced as a game-changing solution. With one pack offering sufficient protein and nutrition for eight people, it enables vendors to deliver nutritious, flavorful meals while maintaining profitability.
Mrs. Funmi Osineye, Business Manager for Nestlé Professional in Nigeria, underscored the company’s commitment to supporting local food vendors. “At Nestlé Professional, we are dedicated to empowering food vendors with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive. Maggi Soya Chunks provides an affordable and nutritious alternative that supports their businesses and encourages healthier eating habits,” she stated.
As part of the workshop, Mrs. Osaretin Okao, Managing Director of Food Bizz Support Services, trained participants on managing profitability in tough economic conditions. She emphasized the importance of adaptability and incorporating innovative ingredients like Maggi Soya Chunks into their offerings. “A successful food business requires innovation and openness to change. Affordable and nutritious options like Maggi Soya Chunks enable vendors to improve their offerings while remaining sustainable,” Mrs. Okao said.
The event also featured a masterclass by Chef Ehis Oseniga, who demonstrated how to prepare Ofada rice sauce with Maggi Soya Chunks. Attendees participated in a cooking competition, showcasing creative dishes such as Chunky Jollof Rice, Soya Spaghetti Jollof, and Soyarito Fried Rice.
Mrs. Osineye reassured participants of Nestlé Professional’s ongoing support for the foodservice industry.
“We are committed to uplifting local food vendors, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating lasting positive impacts in our communities,” she added.
