Nestlé Nigeria Shines With Double Honours At NECA And CIPM Awards


Nestlé Nigeria has solidified its reputation for excellence, clinching major accolades at the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) Employers’ Excellence Awards 2024 and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) OSCAR Awards.

At the NECA Employers’ Excellence Awards, Nestlé emerged as the winner in the “Food & Beverages (Food)” category and received the “Visible Impact Award in Investment in SDG and Green Projects.” The recognition celebrates companies that contribute significantly to the economy while prioritizing employee well-being, diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability in challenging business environments.

Speaking at the event, NECA Director-General Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde praised Nestlé for its exemplary contributions, stating, “Nestlé has set a remarkable example of delivering positive impact for their people and the environment while successfully navigating today’s business challenges.”

Nestlé’s winning streak extended to the CIPM Human Resources Best Practices OSCAR Awards in October 2024, where the company triumphed in 11 out of 15 categories.

Expressing gratitude, Shakiru Lawal, Country Human Resources Manager at Nestlé Nigeria, said, “This recognition reflects our sustained efforts to nurture our most valuable assets – our people. From hiring to retirement, we create an open and respectful environment, invest in development, and ensure access to coaching and mentorship.”

Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Manager, emphasized Nestlé’s commitment to sustainable growth, stating, “Our success as a company is tied to the well-being of our employees, communities, and the planet. We remain committed to empowering our people while creating shared value.”

Nestlé Nigeria’s sustainability achievements include maintaining plastics neutrality by removing an equivalent of 100% of plastic packaging from the environment on a 1:1 basis. The company is the first in Nigeria to achieve the maximum allowable use of recycled PET in its water bottles. Furthermore, Nestlé has transitioned to recyclable packaging materials and implemented initiatives that saved over 46,729 GJ of energy and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 5,274 tons of CO2 equivalent.
