Nestlé Nigeria Announces Judges For 2024 Media Awards

Nestlé Nigeria has announced the distinguished panel of judges for the fourth edition of its Media Awards, an event designed to honor journalistic excellence in Nigeria. The awards highlight media professionals who address critical issues such as nutrition security, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic development.

The judging panel includes prominent experts from various fields. Dr. Chioma Emma-Nwachukwu, Programs Lead of the Lagos Chapter of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, is renowned for her work in nutrition and public health. Rosemary Otalor, Account Director at APO Group, brings extensive experience in media relations and communications. Dr. Sunday John, a Senior Lecturer at the School of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University, is a well-respected authority in media studies and journalism. Oreva Atanya, Director of the LBS Sustainability Center at Pan-Atlantic University, is recognized for her contributions to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Victoria Uwadoka, an award-winning leader in corporate communications and public affairs, also serves as Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead.

Victoria Uwadoka expressed pride in the judging panel, noting their expertise would provide a fresh perspective to the awards. She stated, “We are honored to have such a distinguished group of experts for this year’s awards. Their diverse expertise will ensure a comprehensive evaluation of entries. At Nestlé, we remain committed to empowering the media to deliver fact-based reporting that can influence nutrition and behavioral choices positively.”

This year’s awards received an overwhelming response, with 285 entries from journalists nationwide. The entries will be judged based on their alignment with thematic areas including Nutrition and Affordable Food Solutions, Environmental Sustainability, Youth Empowerment, Women Empowerment, Community Development, Finance, and Agriculture. Additional evaluation criteria include accuracy, originality, impact, balance, depth, and adherence to ethical standards.

Winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony in December, where impactful and compelling stories will be celebrated.
