NCS Reschedules Gala, Award Night To Honour Late Chief of Army Staff

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the postponement of its much-anticipated Gala and Award Night, originally slated for today , Friday, November 15, 2024, in Abuja. The decision comes as the nation mourns the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

In a statement issued by the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Abdullahi Maiwada, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, expressed deep condolences to the family of the late general, his colleagues in the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the nation at large.

“Lt. Gen. Lagbaja was a leader of immense dedication and sacrifice,” CGC Adeniyi stated. “His contributions to Nigeria’s security and inter-agency cooperation are immeasurable. We stand with the Nigerian Army, his family, and all Nigerians in honouring his memory and service.”

The postponement, according to the NCS, reflects the Service’s desire to align with the national mood of grief, recognizing the profound impact of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s legacy on the nation and its security services.

The NCS has assured stakeholders, partners, and invited guests that a new date for the Gala and Award Night will be announced in due course.

This gesture underscores the Customs Service’s respect for the late Chief of Army Staff and its commitment to fostering unity during this solemn period.
