The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB), at its 60th Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, confirmed the appointments of two Deputy Comptroller-Generals of Customs (DCGs) and five Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs (ACGs). The meeting, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, took place at the newly established corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Maitama, Abuja.

The newly confirmed DCGs are OA Alajogun and KI Adeola, while the new ACGs are IG Umar, MM Tilley-Gyado, BA Makinde, OA Salefu, and T Bomodi. The appointments follow the statutory retirement of senior officers and comply with the Federal Character Policy, as stipulated in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023.

In a significant move toward modernization, the NCSB also approved the upgrade of the ICT Unit to a full-fledged department, as decided in its 59th Regular Meeting in May 2024. This upgrade is part of the Service’s ongoing efforts to enhance its operational capabilities through digital transformation.

DCG KI Adeola has been appointed as the head of the newly created ICT-Modernisation Department, supported by an Assistant Comptroller-General and five Comptrollers. This team will oversee the implementation of innovative ICT initiatives aimed at boosting the efficiency of customs operations.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, congratulated the newly appointed officials, urging them to intensify their efforts in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and curbing smuggling to promote Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.
