NCC’s Maida Emphasizes Transparency In Telecom Regulation

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), reaffirmed his commitment to transparency as the linchpin of Nigeria’s telecommunications regulation during a recent visit to the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani in Abuja.

Highlighting the pivotal role transparency plays in fostering a robust, accountable, and efficient regulatory body, Maida emphasized its significance in driving operational excellence within the Commission. “Transparency is key. It is by transparency that we can self-regulate even as regulators,” he asserted, underscoring its role in propelling the Commission towards its goals.

Commending the Minister for leading by example in transparent leadership, Maida conveyed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with the responsibility of steering a critical sector of the economy.

During the discussion, Maida outlined his priorities, aligning them with the Ministry’s 5-Pillar Strategic Plan. These priorities encompassed ensuring quality user experiences, enhancing broadband connectivity, harnessing innovations like the 5G revolution, and streamlining internal processes for heightened efficiency.

Moreover, Maida emphasized the need to revitalize the Digital Bridge Institute in Lagos, recognizing its potential in fostering a knowledge-based economy, a move in line with the Minister’s strategic agenda.

In response, Minister Tijani welcomed Maida, acknowledging the indispensable role of the NCC in achieving the nation’s digital aspirations. He pledged collaboration towards shared goals, emphasizing the importance of leveraging existing strengths to maximize value for the country.
