Dr. Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), has been honored with the prestigious NIPR ‘Distinguished Spokesperson in Technology Award’ during the National Spokesperson Summit organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in Abuja.
The summit, themed “Change Narratives, Change Society,” served as a pivotal platform for fostering dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in advancing the practice of public relations in Nigeria and beyond. Recognizing the outstanding contributions of journalists and Public Relations personalities, the NIPR honored Muoka for his remarkable achievements in his professional endeavors.
Dr. Muoka’s illustrious journalism career includes receiving a fellowship from the Egyptian Embassy in Nigeria for a Pan-African training and tour of Egypt in 1999. This led to him being awarded a continental Diploma Certificate in Journalism by the Egyptian Ministry of Information and the African Journalists Union (AJU) in Cairo, Egypt.
In 2021, Dr. Muoka was appointed to head the Special Duties Department at the NCC, overseeing various critical units including International Relations, Emergency Communication Centres, Public-Private Partnership, and Security Services. His subsequent promotion to Director of the Department highlighted his exceptional leadership and management skills.
With a rich background in traditional journalism, public relations, integrated marketing communications (IMC), corporate communication, and people management, Dr. Muoka’s redeployment to lead the Public Affairs Department of the NCC underscores the Commission’s commitment to enhancing its public image and visibility.
A member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), a full member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and an associate member of the Registered Practitioners of Advertising (arpa) regulated by the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Dr. Muoka’s extensive qualifications and experience make him a deserving recipient of the prestigious honor bestowed upon him by the NIPR.
