NCC Welcomes Rack Centre Delegation, Aims To Bolster Collaboration

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) recently hosted a delegation from Rack Centre, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Lars Johannisson. The visit, a courtesy call to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, aimed to explore avenues for enhancing collaboration between Rack Centre and the telecommunications regulatory body.

Engr Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner Technical Services of the NCC, welcomed the Rack Centre delegation on behalf of the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida. The meeting, held on Tuesday, focused on strengthening the existing relationship and cooperation between the two entities.

Rack Centre, founded in 2012, stands as the only carrier-neutral Tier III Constructed Facility Certified data centre in Africa. Specializing in providing top-tier data centre colocation services, Rack Centre facilitates seamless interconnectivity between carriers and customers. Notably, it hosts the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), the leading IXP on the African continent.

With a robust network boasting over 73 ASNs (Autonomous System Numbers) and serving a diverse clientele comprising local and global networks, enterprises, content delivery networks (CDNs), and cloud and content providers, Rack Centre plays a pivotal role in unlocking access to a population exceeding 380 million people in the West Coast of Africa.

The visit underscores the mutual interest of both Rack Centre and the NCC in fostering collaboration and advancing telecommunications infrastructure and services in Nigeria.
