NASENI’s Commercial Products Ready For Market, Asserts Executive Vice Chairman Halilu

During a key oversight visit by the House of Representatives Committee on NASENI, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), announced that the agency’s commercial products are now market-ready and fully certified by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON). The visit took place on Thursday at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Halilu showcased a range of NASENI’s latest innovations, including NASENI-branded laptops, Android smartphones, lithium batteries, LED solar street lights, solar irrigation systems, electric bicycles, and two newly branded electric vehicles (EVs). These products, according to Halilu, highlight NASENI’s commitment to driving Nigeria’s technological advancement and industrialization.

“Over the past few months, we have transformed our operations from primarily research-based activities to the commercialization of our products,” said Halilu. He emphasized the agency’s strategy of collaborating with the private sector to deliver on its mandate under the 3C’s principle of Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization.

The EVC informed the committee that about 35 NASENI products are ready for the Nigerian market, with plans underway to establish showrooms across all 36 states to ensure these innovations reach end users. “We want the honourable members to be our first ambassadors through their patronage,” he added.

In his address, the Chairman of the House Committee on NASENI, Hon. Otunba Abimbola Ajilesoro, acknowledged the importance of the oversight visit for fostering robust research and development in critical sectors such as defense, agriculture, and infrastructure. He reassured NASENI of the committee’s support in terms of appropriation and legislative frameworks to enhance the agency’s capacity for delivering industrial and consumer goods and creating jobs.

Ajilesoro highlighted the committee’s commitment to accountability and value for money in NASENI’s operations. “This will enable us to expand, deepen, and create a sustainable path for technological advancement, turning Nigeria into an industrial hub among the nations,” he stated.
