The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State, are poised to join forces to bolster Nigeria’s digital economy footprint and foster job creation opportunities for millions of youths across the nation.
Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NASENI, unveiled this collaborative effort during the reception of participants from the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 46 of NIPSS. The delegation was visiting NASENI as part of their Strategic Institution Study tour on Monday, April 15th, 2024.
Halilu expressed his delight in NASENI’s recognition as a pivotal federal government agency equipped to empower Nigerian youths and drive job creation, thereby fostering self-reliance in manufacturing and the digital economy sector. He stressed the importance of enhancing the capacity of key stakeholders to access, adopt, and scale up technologies, emphasizing the need for supportive offline conditions such as conducive policy environments, access to finance, incentives, and innovation capacities.
The Director-General of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, leading the delegation, highlighted the potential for empowering Nigerian youths through the translation of NASENI’s innovations into finished products. He underscored the importance of fortifying collaboration between the two institutions to achieve this goal.
Prof. Omotayo emphasized the significance of infrastructure in fostering good manufacturing practices, acknowledging NASENI’s pivotal role in various sectors, particularly manufacturing industries. He expressed NIPSS’s commitment to partnering with NASENI to harness its technological innovations for effective job creation and youth empowerment.
The NIPSS delegation, comprising Course 46 participants, sought to delve into NASENI’s vision, mission, and roles, with a keen interest in translating these aspects into tangible job opportunities within the digital economy realm.
